September newsletter
Updated: Oct 30, 2022
Welcome to my newsletter, keeping you up-to-date with the latest from my studio.
I am delighted that I am now an artist in residence at the Wilson art gallery and museum. After some time off with my family over the school summer holidays, I am now getting into a routine of work in my studio at the Wilson, and getting to know the other artists in residence and youth fellows.
During my year as an artist in residence, I will be working on a body of landscape paintings that reflect my experience of interacting with nature. These will be worked on in a range of different media, including watercolour, acrylic, pastel and mixed media. I also intends to include tactile elements and field recordings to take the works beyond the visual.
The landscape artworks that I will be working on will be based on open spaces – large and small – within Cheltenham, and those that can be reached easily on public transport. Being visually impaired, I am unable to drive, so want to celebrate the areas of open space that I can easily access.
I have also started planning workshops that I will be delivering at the Wilson over the coming months. Do keep an eye out for future newsletters if you'd like to be kept informed about these.
I was very pleased that Breathe - Twilight and Breathe - Shepherd's Warning both went to a new home during my last exhibition with Junction 12 Art Group in July. I am now going to be taking a break from exhibiting my work for a little while to concentrate on creating new work. I will still be trying to catch as many local exhibitions as I can, as well as making "research trips" up to London to visit galleries.
While I'm not exhibiting, all of the paintings on my website remain for sale, so do get in touch with me if you are interested in any of them.
Lovely to hear your plans, Sarah, and looking forward to further updates.
