I am taking a quick break from final preparations for the Junction 12 Summer Exhibition at the Gardens Gallery to send this email. I will be exhibiting alongside six other artists from Junction 12 Art Group from 13-19 July.

You are warmly invited to join us at the Private View, from 6-8pm on Friday 15 July.

I will be including a new artwork from my Breathe collection in this exhibition. This latest textured abstract skyscape is called Breathe: Shepherd's Warning. Working on this painting helped me to move through a creative block brought about by concerns about the ongoing impact that Covid infection has had on me. Art once again provided me with a time of calm reflection and a boost to my wellbeing.

A landscape-orientation abstract red, textured painting on stretched canvas. Texture paste has been pulled into lines using a palette knife. The lines feather out to the right, up and down from a line about a third of the way up the canvas. This has been painted crimson red, with darker shades moving out from the dividing line, and some areas of slightly lighter pink and orange shades. Along the dividing line are dots and dashes of thick silver paint, spelling out the Morse code for the word Breathe.

I was delighted to see that my postcard-sized artwork Blossoms sold on the opening gala night of the Twitter Art Exhibit in June. This wonderful enterprise raises money for a different local charity each year, and this year the funds are going to support the Encephalitis Society. While my artwork has sold, there are still lots of wonderful pieces up for sale, so if you would like to buy a £30 artwork, and support charity at the same time, then head over to the TAE online shop and take a look at what is still available.

A small portrait-orientation painting on a postcard. Branches laden with blossom extend out from the left-hand side of the painting and are silhouetted against a mud-blue sky. The blossom is painted in loose brush strokes of pale pinks with some darker magenta lines in the centre of some of the flowers. Some petals are falling from the tree on the breeze. Below the painting is a title label adorned with the red dot of happy artist dances.

If you are local to Cheltenham, a new culture board has been set up, and is working on a cultural strategy for the town. They have created a residents survey that is open until 12 August 2022. Whatever your views about the current cultural offers in Cheltenham; if there are barriers that prevent you from accessing culture; do respond to the survey to have your views heard and taken into account.
