Mountain Slopes

Mountain Slopes is part of my Elemental series of paintings, inspired by the Ancient Greek elements of earth, water, air and fire. The series is inspired by the duality of each of these elements: their scale and destructive power, inspiring awe; alongside their necessity to us as humans, and the comforting emotions that they inspire within us.

Mountain Slopes was inspired by the earth; by glassy slopes of mountains and valleys. Acrylic on MDF, it is made up of individual acrylic pours assembled together to create a composite whole. The pattern and the different green hues of these individual panels depict the colours created by light falling onto slopes at different times of day.

I created this painting in early 2020 for exhibitions that I had planned for this year. As these exhibitions had to be cancelled, I am introducing these paintings online instead.
